Cajun basketball hangs on

The Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team made a valiant effort in the Sun Belt tournament, but finished as the runner up to #16 Middle Tennessee, narrowly missing their chance at an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. However, their regular season record and tournament run were deemed worthy of an invitation to the tournament as an at-large team.

Women’s tennis takes victory over Alcorn State 7-0

Despite cold, rainy conditions, Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team swept Alcorn State 7-0 in their 2007 season opener at Cajun Courts. In singles action, the Cajuns posted straight set sweeps in all six matchups.

The Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team has struggled to get victories this season, but was able to pull out a hard-fought win against Troy Saturday night, giving them a split on the week, and bringing their record on the season to 5-15 overall.

Women's basketball takes over first place in west

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns took sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt West Division thanks to an 89-66 victory over Troy on Sunday afternoon.
UL (16-5, 8-2) moves one-half game ahead of Arkansas State, while Troy (10-9, 3-6) slips into a fourth place tie with South Alabama in the East Division.

Practice facility skeleton erected

Despite a disappointing 6-6 finish to the 2006 football season, the UL Lafayette football team has something to look forward to for the upcoming year.
Construction is just a few months away from completion on a brand new indoor facility that will include a full-size football field, a practice court and locker rooms for the basketball teams, drop-down batting cages for the baseball and softball teams, a film room for watching game films, and storage rooms for these teams.

Women's basketball claims historic win in Ky.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns accomplished something that they had never done before, and they did it in dominating fashion. The Cajuns defeated Western Kentucky on the road for the first time in school history with a 77-64 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Gyulai named first female coach of tennis teams

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette announced Friday the hiring of Katalin Gyulai as head coach of Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s tennis programs. Gyulai assumes the position as head coach after serving as the associate head coach for the women’s program for the 2005-06 season.
